If you never heard of Renoise: Thats the program I use almost exclusively to make my music.
I have been using the last beta-versions for some months and what can I say: PDC and the notedelay-column just make this little beast perfect and because it’s for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux I absolutely urge everyone to give it a whirl.
It’s really amazing to see the long way renoise has come since 1.1, the first version I was using.
Earlier this year the guys from Moods Plateau organised an event in a cafe in my hometown which was a really nice evening, mainly chilling to beats while playing on a SNES (Streetfighter 2!) and an Amiga (Turrican! IK+!).
As my own Christmas-Present I ordered me one of these.
I had been searching for a few drumpads and an XY-Pad for ages, then suddenly this thing comes along and seems to be perfect. The reviews I read and saw were all pretty favourable and for 60€ there is not much to think about. Will post something when it arrived and I had time to play around with it.
And we didn’t “make it”, but I have to say that I heartily congratulate ULTRNX for their win, that remix of theirs is just pure dope and they definitely deserve the first place. Listen to their remix here.
Second place went to Gooseflesh, a decision which I agree to as well, I heard their remix before the official announcement and did like it very much.
I won’t mention the third place though, because it sucks in my opinion. I really don’t see why they made third. This does not mean that I think our remix should have made third or anything, I just really don’t like it, seems to me that Digitalism (or whoever actually took care of that compo) really just selected a random “okayish” remix for third place to wrap that whole competition up. So no link from me.
